The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Manual Miller & Tooling Repair Technician to join a well-established manufacturing business in South Yorkshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineering professional with toolroom experience to work within a busy and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, modifying, and preparing tooling and mould equipment to support production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual milling machinery, including XYZ mills
- Interpret and work from engineering and technical drawings
- Measure and inspect finished components to ensure they meet specification
- Repair, modify, polish, and maintain mould and tooling equipment
- Identify and report defects or issues with tooling and equipment
- Locate and manage tooling held within storage areas
- Carry out blasting and cleaning of mould equipment
- Accurately follow work instructions and job card specifications
- Support production requirements through timely completion of tooling repairs and maintenance
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role and skill level
About You
- Previous experience working within a toolroom environment
- Experience operating manual milling machines
- Knowledge of mould repair, bench fitting, or tooling maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience using XYZ machinery (advantageous)
- Experience in gas welding, polishing, or additional machining processes would be beneficial but is not essential
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Toolroom apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification preferred
- Has a strong commitment to health and safety
- Is self-motivated and able to work independently
- Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills and initiative
- Works accurately with a high level of attention to detail
- Can effectively prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
- Has a flexible and positive approach to work
