Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business for a Metrology Technician to join their Quality team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced quality or inspection professional looking to develop their career within a technically advanced manufacturing environment.
The Role
As a Metrology Technician, you will provide vital support across metrology, calibration, inspection and quality assurance activities.
Working within the Quality department, you will be responsible for carrying out accurate measurements, maintaining calibration systems, supporting production and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out dimensional measurements of materials and components against engineering specifications using a variety of metrology equipment.
- Perform precise measurements using manual measuring tools, CMM equipment and 3D scanning systems.
- Produce measurement reports and maintain full traceability of inspection records and samples.
- Conduct material integrity testing including ultrasonic analysis and hardness testing (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers and Leeb).
- Prepare materials for metallurgical analysis including resin mounting, polishing and microscopy examination.
- Generate and maintain measurement programmes for CMM and optical measurement equipment.
- Calibrate internal gauges and measuring equipment in line with relevant standards.
- Coordinate external calibration activities where required.
- Carry out gauge servicing and repairs where possible.
- Provide support to quality assurance and production teams, including problem solving, training and verification activities.
- Assist with Customer Acceptance Line (CAL) activities when required, providing holiday and sickness cover.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Promote and comply with all quality, health and safety procedures.
About You
- Qualifications in Maths and English.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience using dimensional metrology equipment and measurement instruments.
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical and organised approach.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver accurate work.
- Flexible attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to adapt to changing business needs.
