Mackie Myers is partnering with an innovative and growing life sciences business based in Oxford.

As the organisation continues to scale, they are looking to appoint a Financial Accountant to join their established finance team.

The Role

The Financial Accountant will play an important role in supporting the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across the business.

Working closely with the wider finance team, you will contribute to statutory reporting, revenue accounting, audit, tax compliance and month-end activities, while also helping to improve processes and strengthen financial controls.

Main Duties

  • Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and financial reporting
  • Support monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting requirements
  • Support revenue accounting activities, including contract reviews and revenue calculations
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
  • Contribute to month-end close and year-end audit processes
  • Support UK and international tax compliance requirements
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls and systems
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the wider business
  • Provide financial support and insight to operational teams
  • Support junior members of the finance team and contribute to wider finance projects
  • The Successful Candidate
  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified accountant
  • Post-qualified experience in financial accounting, financial reporting or audit
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including experience with IFRS
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts and supporting external audit processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems
  • Good understanding of UK tax and financial reporting requirements
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across the business
  • Experience within life sciences, healthcare or a high-growth environment would be advantageous
