We are seeking a Fleet & Workshop Services Manager to provide leadership and strategic direction for our transport, fleet, plant, and workshop functions.

This role is crucial in ensuring that all vehicles, plant, and equipment are operated and maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with statutory requirements.

As a key member of the senior management team, the Fleet & Workshop Services Manager will also contribute to the strategic development of fleet and workshop services.

Day-to-day of the role

  • Lead, manage, and develop the fleet and workshop teams, setting clear standards, objectives, and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, organisational SHEQ requirements, and approved risk assessments.
  • Oversee the workshop service to maintain high standards of engineering, maintenance, repair, and productivity.
  • Develop the capability and capacity of the in-house workshop, reducing external dependency and exploring sustainable income opportunities.
  • Act as a nominated Transport Manager, ensuring continuous and effective management of licensed transport operations and compliance with all Operator's Licence conditions.
  • Manage transport compliance systems, staying current with legislation and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure all drivers are licensed, trained, and comply with legal requirements such as drivers' hours and vehicle safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records for driver, tachograph, and maintenance compliance.
  • Manage and audit maintenance providers, suppliers, and contractors to ensure they meet organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead strategic initiatives such as fleet replacement, decarbonisation, and policy development.
  • Provide assurance to the Executive Leadership Team and Board on compliance, safety, and performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in fleet management, transport operations, or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and develop teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of transport compliance and fleet management systems.
  • Experience as a nominated Transport Manager is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organisational and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Relevant professional qualifications or certifications related to transport and fleet management.
