The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Parts Sales Advisor to join a well-established commercial vehicle business in Northampton.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with proven knowledge of HGV truck and trailer parts who enjoys delivering outstanding customer service while working in a busy, customer-focused environment.
This role requires previous experience within the commercial vehicle parts industry.
We are looking for someone who has worked in a similar Parts Sales Advisor position and has a strong understanding of HGV truck and trailer parts.
Due to the technical nature of the role, candidates without relevant sector experience will not be considered.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing incoming parts enquiries, serving trade counter customers, sourcing parts from suppliers, and supporting the branch in achieving sales and service targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Professionally handle incoming telephone enquiries and convert them into parts sales.
- Serve trade counter customers, providing expert advice and excellent customer service.
- Source and purchase parts from suppliers while achieving the best possible pricing.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and assist with inventory management.
- Work closely with the Branch Manager to achieve sales, margin and profitability targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national customers.
- Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and generate new business.
- Carry out stock checks, stock cleanses and process internal stock transfers efficiently.
- Process customer payments accurately and handle cash in line with company procedures.
- Support over-the-counter sales and delivery performance alongside the wider parts team.
- Liaise with delivery drivers to ensure customer orders are delivered on time.
- Monitor local market activity and identify new sales opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Support the wider branch team with additional duties as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have
- Previous experience as a Parts Sales Advisor within the HGV, commercial vehicle, truck or trailer parts sector.
- Strong knowledge of commercial truck and trailer components.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A professional and confident telephone manner.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience of stock control, purchasing and supplier liaison.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures.
- A full UK driving licence.
