About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join a busy and supportive GP Practice in Northampton.

Working closely with the Practice Nursing Team, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting a wide range of clinical services, and helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HCA looking to develop their career within Primary Care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a high-quality phlebotomy service
  • Undertake NHS Health Checks and routine health assessments
  • Record blood pressure, height, weight, ECGs, urinalysis, peak flow measurements, and other baseline observations
  • Assist with wound care, infection prevention and control, and minor surgical procedures
  • Process laboratory samples and maintain accurate clinical records using Systm One
  • Chaperone patients during clinical examinations where required
  • Maintain vaccine cold chain records and monitor clinical equipment
  • Restock clinical rooms and maintain medical supplies
  • Support health promotion initiatives and patient education
  • Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary primary care team

  • Phlebotomy Certificate
  • Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and IT skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care
  • Understanding of confidentiality and information governance

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within General Practice
  • Experience using Systm One
