Group Financial Accountant

This role is ideally suited to a newly qualified ACA or ACCA accountant looking to make their first move from practice into industry.
You'll gain exposure to complex group reporting, statutory accounting, IFRS, acquisitions, technical accounting and business improvement projects, providing an excellent platform to develop both technically and commercially.
Role
You will take ownership of core statutory reporting, balance sheet controls and external audit deliverables, whilst supporting wider finance activities including tax compliance, internal audit, financial integrations and continuous process improvement.
Working within a high-calibre Group Finance team, you'll play a key role in preparing financial statements, supporting the Annual Report process and contributing to technical accounting projects across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory financial statements for multiple subsidiary companies.
- Support the production of the Group Annual Report & Accounts and Interim Financial Statements.
- Assist with group consolidations and technical accounting under IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Prepare high-quality statutory reporting schedules and supporting working papers.
- Own key balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
- Support improvements to financial reporting systems, automation and process efficiencies.
- Assist with strengthening internal controls and reporting processes.
- Act as a key contact for the external audit, preparing audit schedules and responding to queries.
- Support the delivery of year-end and interim audit requirements.
- Assist with internal audit activities and Audit Committee reporting.
- Provide support across Corporation Tax and VAT compliance where required.
- Support group restructures, entity changes and acquisition accounting.
- Assist with the financial integration of acquisitions and opening balance sheet adjustments.
- Work closely with the wider finance team to ensure consistent application of accounting policies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technical accounting projects across the Group.
About You
- ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Looking to make your first move from practice into industry (ideal but not essential).
- Experience preparing statutory accounts or auditing complex group structures.
- Strong technical grounding in IFRS and an eagerness to continue developing.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships across the business.
- Curious, proactive and keen to develop technically and commercially.
- Exposure to Corporation Tax or VAT would be advantageous but is by no means essential.
