We are currently recruiting for a Dealership Accountant to join a reputable motor trade operation based in Newport, Isle of Wight.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive accountant to take on a key leadership role within a well-established dealership.

The successful Dealership Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the dealership's financial functions, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic financial management.

Duties

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior management
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including cash management, sales and purchase ledger control, and payroll
  • Reconcile and maintain key balance sheet accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end accounts and statutory returns
  • Monitor vehicle profit and loss accounts and manage Reynolds & Reynolds or Power systems
  • Manage credit control, debt collection, warranty claims, and cash flow forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company procedures
  • Liaise with external advisors and support year-end statutory filings

Requirements of Dealership Accountant

  • Proven experience as a management accountant within the motor trade sector
  • Strong knowledge of Reynolds & Reynolds or Power systems systems is advantageous
  • Advanced skills in spreadsheets and financial reporting tools
  • Experience with VAT returns and statutory filings
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Flexible attitude with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and team-focused approach
