Are you an experienced Mechanical Technician looking for your next challenge within a chemical manufacturing environment? We're recruiting on behalf of an established and growing chemical manufacturing business for a Mechanical Technician to join their maintenance team in Middlesbrough. This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served Mechanical Technician who enjoys a varied, hands-on role, working on everything from preventative maintenance and breakdowns to installation work and site improvement projects. You'll become part of a small, supportive team where your technical expertise will make a real difference to the safe and efficient running of the site.
The Role
As a Mechanical Technician, you'll report to the Maintenance Manager and be responsible for ensuring plant and equipment are maintained to the highest standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out mechanical fault finding and responding to breakdowns
- Installing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of mechanical equipment
- Completing planned preventative maintenance activities
- Recording maintenance activities accurately within the maintenance management system
- Assisting with minor engineering and improvement projects across the site
- Supporting general site maintenance activities where required
- Working safely at all times, ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures and relevant legislation
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this Mechanical Technician role, you'll have:
- Completed apprenticeship in a mechanical engineering discipline
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma, BTEC ONC or equivalent mechanical qualification
- Experience maintaining industrial mechanical equipment
- Knowledge of centrifugal, vane and air-operated diaphragm pumps
- Experience working with industrial valves, particularly ball valves
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- A flexible, team-focused approach and willingness to assist with general maintenance tasks when required
It would be advantageous if you have:
- Experience within the chemical or process manufacturing industry
- Knowledge of hazardous environments and ATEX regulations
- Experience working with pneumatic systems
- Additional engineering or maintenance skills
- A commitment to continuous learning and developing your technical knowledge
