You will work primarily across wastewater treatment facilities, delivering mechanical engineering projects involving industrial plant, pumps, pipework and process equipment.

This is more than a standard fitting position.

You will lead a two-person site team, manage jobs from arrival through to completion and work alongside highly experienced engineers.

A clear succession plan also offers genuine scope to progress into a more senior position as the business develops.

  • Diagnosing mechanical faults and identifying practical, effective solutions.
  • Completing installations and in-situ mechanical repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinating lifting and cranage activities where required.
  • Working at height and within confined-space environments.
  • Ensuring all work meets the required safety, quality and customer standards.
  • Travelling to sites across the UK, predominantly within the utilities and wastewater sector.

What We're Looking For

You will be a practical and dependable Mechanical Fitter who is comfortable taking responsibility on site and supporting another member of the field team.

Ideally, you will have

  • At least 10 years' experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Fitter or similar.
  • A strong hands-on mechanical engineering background.
  • Experience installing, maintaining or repairing industrial plant and mechanical equipment.
  • Confident fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working with lifting equipment and cranage operations.
  • Experience working at height and in confined spaces.
  • The flexibility to travel and work away when projects require it.
  • A mechanical engineering apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent qualification, although substantial practical experience will also be considered.

Previous wastewater, water treatment or utilities experience would be highly advantageous.

Applications are also welcomed from experienced fitters working in heavy engineering, process manufacturing, industrial maintenance or related sectors.

What's on Offer?

  • Pay of up to £36,504, depending on experience.
  • Regular opportunities to increase earnings through overtime.
  • Additional uplift for working away.
  • Accommodation and relevant expenses covered when working away.
