A leading global law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Biller to join its established Finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a billing professional with strong legal billing expertise who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and partnering closely with senior stakeholders across the business.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the billing process for designated practice groups, ensuring the accurate and timely production of invoices while supporting the firm's wider working capital and revenue objectives.
The Opportunity
This role sits within a high-performing finance function and offers exposure to complex billing arrangements, international stakeholders and sophisticated financial processes.
The position requires an individual who can build strong relationships with partners and fee earners while delivering an exceptional billing service.
Please note that proven experience within legal billing and strong Elite 3E system knowledge are essential requirements for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end billing process for a portfolio of partners and fee earners.
- Produce accurate and timely client invoices in line with agreed billing schedules and client requirements.
- Review work in progress and coordinate billing activity to support revenue generation and working capital performance.
- Conduct regular billing and WIP reviews with stakeholders, identifying opportunities to accelerate billing and reduce aged balances.
- Ensure all billing activity complies with client guidelines, engagement terms and regulatory requirements.
- Verify rates, matter details, disbursements and billing information to maintain the highest levels of accuracy.
- Build strong relationships with partners, legal teams and business support functions, acting as a trusted point of contact for billing matters.
- Investigate and resolve billing queries efficiently and professionally.
- Support working capital initiatives through proactive management of billing workflows and aged WIP.
- Maintain accurate client and matter data, ensuring compliance with internal processes and service standards.
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have
- Proven legal billing experience gained within a law firm environment.
- Strong hands-on experience using Elite 3E (essential).
- Excellent understanding of the legal billing lifecycle and working capital processes.
- Sound knowledge of VAT and its application within legal billing.
- Strong Excel and financial systems experience.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- A proactive and commercially minded approach to billing and revenue management.
