We are seeking an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to join our team on a full-time, temporary basis.
The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload and undertake their own advocacy as required, focusing on a range of complex and sensitive adult social care matters.
Day-to-day of the role
- Manage a comprehensive caseload including proceedings and applications under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Court of Protection welfare matters, Section 21A challenges, Deprivation of Liberty cases, and more.
- Provide legal advice on assessments, care and support planning, best interests decision-making, and transitions from children's to adult services.
- Participate in duty lawyer cover arrangements during normal working hours.
- Attend and provide legal advice at operational and safeguarding meetings as required.
- Advise social workers, managers, and senior officers, offering timely, practical, and solution-focused legal support on complex matters involving vulnerable adults.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Local authority adult social care experience is essential.
- Ability to handle a busy caseload with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in conducting advocacy in the Court of Protection is highly desirable.
- Strong legal and analytical skills with a focus on adult social care law.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively advise and interact with various stakeholders.
