Rate: £350 per day - Outside IR35
Contract: Interim - Immediate Start
Hybrid: 2 days per week onsite initially, with flexibility as the assignment progresses

We are recruiting an experienced, hands-on Interim Management Accountant to support a business immediately following an acquisition.

This is a fantastic assignment for an experienced interim who is comfortable walking into an SME finance environment where processes and reporting need significant improvement.

You will take ownership of the finance function, establish what needs fixing, and bring the business up to the reporting and control standards required by its new parent company.

The Role

Working closely with senior finance leadership, you will

  • Take day-to-day ownership of the acquired company's finance function.
  • Assess the existing accounts, processes, controls and reporting and identify immediate priorities.
  • Get under the skin of the numbers and resolve historic accounting issues.
  • Produce accurate management accounts and improve the quality and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Support quarterly group reporting requirements.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accounts are accurate and supported.
  • Oversee client banking and cash-related processes.
  • Manage and support an existing finance team of approximately six.
  • Introduce stronger controls, processes and month-end disciplines.
  • Work closely with the wider Group Finance team throughout the integration.
  • Help prepare the business for migration onto a new group finance system within the next 6-9 months.

We are looking for someone who

  • Is an experienced Finance Manager / Management Accountant
  • Has previously inherited a finance function requiring improvement or clean-up.
  • Is genuinely hands-on and comfortable getting into the detail.
  • Has strong management accounts and balance sheet experience.
  • Can identify issues quickly and implement practical solutions.
  • Has experience managing or overseeing a small finance team.
  • Is comfortable working within an SME environment where processes may initially be manual.
  • Experience with Sage and/or VT would be advantageous.
  • Acquisition, integration or finance transformation experience would be highly beneficial.
  • Previous professional services or legal-sector experience would be useful but is not essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced interim to make a tangible impact during a significant period of change.
