The Opportunity
An established international organisation is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant to join a collaborative finance function supporting multiple business entities across the UK.
You'll play a key role in financial reporting, statutory accounts preparation, tax compliance, balance sheet integrity and external audit coordination, whilst working closely with finance and operational stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate month-end journals, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Take ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items.
- Support the preparation of monthly management and financial reporting.
- Prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with UK accounting standards.
- Coordinate information requests from external auditors and ensure audit deadlines are achieved.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
- Support quarterly tax reporting and corporation tax calculations.
- Assist with group reporting requirements and consolidation submissions.
- Review and approve finance-related payment runs in line with internal controls.
- Work collaboratively with finance business partners and wider business teams to improve reporting processes and controls.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.
About You
You'll be a proactive finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a strong eye for detail.
We're looking for someone with
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- Experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting or external audit.
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP (FRS102); IFRS exposure is advantageous.
- Experience preparing VAT returns and supporting tax reporting.
- Strong balance sheet reconciliation and month-end reporting experience.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- ERP experience is beneficial but not essential.
