The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Development Team Leader to join a growing and evolving sales organisation.
This role is ideal for a commercially focused sales professional who enjoys leading teams, developing people, driving performance, and generating new business growth.
Working closely with senior sales leadership, you will be responsible for establishing and leading a high-performing Business Development function.
The successful candidate will manage a team of Business Development Executives and an Administrator, ensuring departmental targets are achieved while identifying and converting new business opportunities.
This role would particularly suit candidates with experience in manufacturing, construction products, interiors, kitchens, or a related B2B sales environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, manage and develop a team of Business Development Executives and an Administrator.
- Set clear objectives, KPIs and performance expectations for the team.
- Conduct regular one-to-ones, coaching sessions and performance reviews.
- Train, mentor and motivate team members to maximise individual and team success.
- Foster a positive, high-performance culture focused on achieving sales and revenue targets.
- Business Development & Commercial Growth
- Drive business growth through effective prospecting, lead qualification and opportunity conversion.
- Support the team in developing compelling commercial proposals and presentations.
- Work closely with senior sales leadership to identify growth opportunities across territories and customer segments.
- Monitor and report on sales activity, pipeline development, revenue generation and team performance.
- Create and manage daily, weekly and monthly KPI reporting.
- Stakeholder Management
- Build strong working relationships with key internal departments including Customer Services, Marketing, Category Management and Senior Leadership.
- Provide regular feedback on market conditions, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
- Support cross-functional improvements by identifying and resolving operational challenges that may impact customer experience or sales performance.
- Operational Management
- Oversee call activity, productivity levels and CRM/system usage.
- Manage departmental budgets and resource allocation.
- Ensure sales and margin objectives are consistently achieved.

- Previous experience managing and developing a sales or business development team.
- Proven track record in business development and revenue generation.
