A growing independent insurance broker with a strong presence across the Midlands market is looking to add experienced commercial account handling talent to its team. The business has seen consistent organic growth, is targeting larger commercial clients year on year, and has a clear track record of developing people internally into Account Executive and new business-focused roles.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Commercial Account Handler to join a collaborative broking environment where handlers are seen as a key part of the client service team, not just an administrative support function. You'll work closely with Account Executives, senior leaders, and insurer partners, supporting a varied commercial client base and helping the team deliver a high standard of advice, communication, and service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage commercial client servicing activity: Build trusted relationships while giving clients the responsive support they need day to day.
  • Handle renewals, MTAs, and policy documentation: Take ownership of core broking processes and keep clients protected without unnecessary delays.
  • Negotiate with insurers on open-market placements: Use your technical knowledge to secure appropriate terms for a range of commercial risks.
  • Support Account Executives with larger and more complex cases: Gain exposure to clients typically sitting above the standard SME level.
  • Contribute to a team-led service model: Work in an environment where handlers, executives, claims, and senior leadership collaborate closely.
  • Identify client needs and service issues early: Help maintain strong client retention by being proactive, organised, and commercially aware.

Requirements:

  • Experienced background in commercial insurance account handling.
  • Confident handling commercial combined and wider mid-market/corporate commercial risks.
  • Experience dealing with open-market broking and insurer negotiation.
  • Comfortable working with clients where premiums spend sit around the mid-market level.
  • Strong communication skills, with a client-first approach and the confidence to question, challenge, and offer your own view.
  • Team-focused mindset with a genuine interest in progression, development, and long-term growth.

If this role isn't quite right, it's still worth speaking to one of our specialist team — we may be working on something that hasn't hit the market yet.
