US Private Client Tax Assistant Manager | London | £50,000-£60,000

US Tax. UK Tax. High-Net-Worth Clients. International Complexity.

If you're an experienced US/UK tax professional looking for a role where you can work with genuinely complex private client matters, this could be an opportunity worth exploring.

We're working with a leading UK accountancy and business advisory firm with an established international network and a growing specialist US Private Client Tax practice.

The team works with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs and internationally mobile clients, helping them navigate the increasingly complex interaction between US, UK and international tax systems.

Why this role?

This is a specialist private client role with exposure to far more than standard tax compliance.

You'll work with clients who have complex international affairs, including foreign trusts, investments, pensions, structures and cross-border assets, providing both compliance and advisory support.

You'll also work closely with experienced Managers, Directors and Partners, giving you the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge and progress your career within a growing specialist team.

Your role

You'll take responsibility for a portfolio of private clients, becoming a key point of contact and helping deliver a high-quality US/UK tax service.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Managing a portfolio of HNW and UHNW private clients.
  • Preparing and reviewing US tax compliance and informational reporting.
  • Reviewing Forms and 8858.
  • Assisting with more complex US/UK tax filings.
  • Working on PFIC reporting and foreign trust reporting.
  • Supporting foreign tax credit and year-end tax planning.
  • Advising on UK non-domiciled and internationally mobile individuals.
  • Supporting Managers, Directors and Partners on advisory projects.
  • Identifying opportunities to develop existing client relationships.
  • Reviewing work completed by more junior team members.
  • Supervising and supporting off-site tax preparation teams.
  • Managing billing and workflow across your portfolio.
  • Getting involved in interesting ad hoc and specialist assignments.
  • Building strong professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across the team.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in developing their career within US/UK private client tax.

Ideally, you'll have

  • US Enrolled Agent (EA) and ATT qualifications as a minimum.
  • Around 3 years' experience in US/UK tax.
  • Private client tax experience.
  • Experience working with HNW individuals, entrepreneurs or internationally mobile clients.
  • Exposure to US tax compliance and reporting.
  • Experience dealing directly with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong technical and communication skills.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to find practical solutions to complex issues.
  • A willingness to learn and develop within a specialist team.

CTA or ACA qualification would be advantageous but isn't essential where you have strong relevant US tax experience.

The opportunity

US private client tax is becoming increasingly complex - and demand for professionals who understand both sides of the Atlantic continues to grow.

You'll be joining a specialist team where you can develop expertise across:

US Tax | UK Tax | HNW/UHNW | International Tax | PFICs | Foreign Trusts | Cross-Border Planning

You'll work alongside experienced professionals while gaining greater responsibility for your own clients and projects.

There is also genuine scope to develop your advisory skillset and progress within the team.

What's on offer?

Plus a strong benefits package, agile working and structured career development.

Interested?

If you're currently working in US/UK private client tax and are looking for a role offering greater technical exposure, more complex clients and a clear route for progression, I'd be happy to have a confidential conversation.

You don't need to be actively looking.

If US private client tax is your area of expertise - or the direction you want your career to take - this could be worth a conversation.
