Your new company A highly regarded investment organisation is seeking an experienced Operational Tax Manager to join its tax function and play a key role in the oversight and delivery of operational and overseas tax matters across a diverse investment portfolio.

Working as part of a small but highly visible tax team, you will partner with investment, operations, finance and risk stakeholders to ensure effective management of withholding tax processes, overseas tax compliance, and operational tax risk.

Your new role Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will take ownership of a broad range of operational tax activities, supported by a Tax Associate.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Monitoring and optimising global withholding tax (WHT) positions, including relief-at-source opportunities and tax reclaims.
  • Managing relationships with custodians, administrators, brokers and external tax advisors to ensure efficient tax operations.
  • Overseeing overseas tax return processes and ensuring compliance with international tax obligations.
  • Reviewing deliverables from third-party providers and challenging performance where required.
  • Ensuring the accurate application of treaty rates and resolving tax discrepancies across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Supporting compliance with FATCA, CRS and other tax reporting regimes.
  • Providing operational tax support on fund investments, structural changes and the taxation of financial instruments.
  • Assisting with withholding tax considerations and fund structures across private markets where required.
  • Identifying and mitigating operational tax risks while driving continuous process improvements.
  • Acting as a key point of contact across investment, operations, finance and risk teams to resolve tax issues and advance tax work streams.
  • Managing, developing and coaching a Tax Associate.

This role will also provide exposure to a variety of ad hoc tax advisory and compliance matters, offering a broad and commercially focused tax remit.

  • What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • A relevant tax or accounting qualification.
  • Strong experience within operational taxes, ideally gained in an investment management, asset management, financial services or public markets environment.
  • Deep understanding of withholding taxes, custody structures and transaction taxes.
  • Knowledge of overseas tax compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience managing FATCA, CRS and wider tax reporting obligations.
  • Proven ability to manage and challenge external advisors and service providers.
  • Previous line management or mentoring experience, including managing junior tax professionals.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work independently across multiple business functions.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent organisational and communication skills.
