The opportunity
You'll be joining a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering complex infrastructure projects across the UK.
Working within an expanding Rail team, you'll play a key role in delivering technically challenging schemes while collaborating with specialists across maritime, asset management and wider infrastructure disciplines.

- What you'll be doing
You'll combine strong technical capability with project leadership, helping to deliver high-quality engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of rail projects.
Your responsibilities will include
- Leading the delivery of rail infrastructure projects from design through to completion
- Managing project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables
- Supporting and mentoring graduate and junior engineers
- Acting as a line manager and providing technical guidance
- Preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and reports
- Carrying out inspections, site visits and technical assessments
- Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams
- Preparing fee proposals and supporting tender submissions
- Meeting with clients and developing long-term working relationships
- Supporting project management and contract administration activities
- Ensuring projects comply with Network Rail standards, industry regulations and engineering best practice
Requirements
About you
- You're an experienced rail engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, working closely with clients and helping develop others.
You're looking for a role that offers both technical variety and a clear path towards more senior leadership.
- You'll ideally have: Essential
- Around 6+ years' experience within Civil or Structural Engineering
- Strong experience delivering rail infrastructure projects
- Chartered, Incorporated or working towards Chartership (ICE or IStruct E)
- Strong structural and civil design experience
- Experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations
- Knowledge of Network Rail standards, Railway Group Standards, Eurocodes and British Standards
- Experience working within Network Rail engineering assurance processes
- Experience delivering projects on time and within budget
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Good understanding of CDM Regulations
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office
Desirable
- CRE(D) experience
- Previous mentoring or line management experience
- Commercial awareness including project financial management
- Experience preparing fee proposals and supporting tenders
- Knowledge of structural analysis software such as Tekla Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer, MIDAS, Robot, LUSAS, Super Stress or similar
