Our client, a highly regarded London Law firm, is seeking a Risk and Compliance Assistant to join its Business Unit Acceptance (BAU) team in London on a permanent basis.

Our client is a highly regarded specialist law firm that advises on complex private client and real estate matters. The firm has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, bespoke legal advice and operates within a professional and collaborative environment.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to join the firm's Business Unit Acceptance team as a Risk and Compliance Assistant. The successful candidate will support the firm's client and matter acceptance processes, undertaking detailed due diligence, conflicts checks and risk assessments while working closely with matter teams and senior Risk and Compliance stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the client inception process, including conducting conflicts checks and drafting client and matter risk assessment form
- Conducting detailed due diligence research on new and existing clients and matters
- Preparing engagement letters and ensuring client and matter documentation is complete and accurate
- Working closely with matter teams to ensure new files comply with SRA requirements, AML, Counter-Terrorist Financing, Counter-Proliferation Financing and sanctions regulations
- Liaising between matter teams and the Business Acceptance Unit, raising and resolving queries where appropriate
- Advising on client due diligence requirements in specific scenarios
- Assisting with ongoing client monitoring, including reviewing electronic verification and screening updates and escalating relevant issues to the appropriate stakeholders
- Assisting with internal and external AML audits, compliance reviews and file reviews
- Assisting with conflicts of interest queries and escalating potential compliance concerns appropriately
- Promoting awareness of risk and compliance requirements across the firm
- Supporting the trialling and implementation of new software, systems and BAU processes
Requirements
- Strong academic background
- Previous office experience would also be advantageous
