We are recruiting on behalf of an established multidisciplinary London law firm seeking a commercially minded Litigation Solicitor to join its growing Civil Litigation team. This opportunity would suit a solicitor with solid civil litigation experience and a strong background in Landlord & Tenant and housing-related disputes, who is comfortable managing their own caseload and developing client relationships.
The position is available either as a permanent employed role or, for the right experienced solicitor with an established client base, on a consultant fee-sharing basis.
The Role
- You will manage a varied civil litigation caseload with particular emphasis on:
- Landlord & Tenant disputes
- Possession proceedings
- Housing litigation
- Disrepair claims
- Property-related disputes
- Contractual and general civil disputes
You will handle matters from initial instruction through to resolution, including preparing pleadings, witness statements and disclosure documentation, managing Court proceedings and liaising with Counsel where appropriate. The position also has a strong commercial element. You will be expected to build and maintain client relationships, generate new instructions and referrals and work towards agreed billing targets. You may also provide support and supervision to junior fee earners and paralegals where required.
About You
- To be considered, you should:
- Be a qualified Solicitor admitted to practise in England & Wales
- Ideally have 2–3 years PQE in civil litigation
- Have demonstrable Landlord & Tenant, housing or property litigation experience
- Have experience with possession proceedings and/or disrepair matters
- Be capable of independently managing a litigation caseload
- Have strong drafting and advocacy skills
- Be commercially aware and comfortable working towards billing targets
- Have excellent communication and client-management skills
- Experience across additional areas of civil litigation, including contractual disputes, personal injury or employment-related civil claims, would be advantageous.
- An existing client following or referral network would also be beneficial.
