IBA Accounts Technician
Hammersmith, London
£38,000–£45,000 + Discretionary Bonus
Permanent | Full-time | Predominantly office-based
Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
Are you an experienced insurance accounts professional looking for greater ownership, autonomy and visibility within a friendly independent brokerage?
CKB Recruitment is working with a well-established commercial insurance broker seeking an experienced IBA Accounts Technician to take responsibility for its day-to-day insurance broking accounts function.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit team of seven, where you won't simply become another person within a large finance department.
You'll work directly with the Directors and broking team, becoming a trusted and important part of the business.
The role
You will take ownership of the accurate and timely management of the company's insurance broking accounts, including:
- Allocating client and insurer cash
- Reconciling insurer statements and arranging settlements
- Completing bank and client money account reconciliations
- Monitoring outstanding premiums and supporting credit control
- Processing refunds and return premiums
- Reconciling commission and brokerage
- Completing client money calculations
- Managing month-end processes and reconciliations
- Investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies
- Maintaining accurate records within Acturis
- Liaising with insurers, clients, brokers and Directors to resolve queries
- Producing reports and escalating overdue accounts where necessary
About you
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance broking accounts and be confident taking ownership of the function from the outset.
You should have
- Previous experience within insurance broking accounts or a closely related insurance finance role
- Experience of premium processing, reconciliations and invoice management
- Strong working knowledge of Acturis
- A good understanding of IBA practices and commercial insurance
- Knowledge of FCA client money requirements
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good Excel and wider Microsoft Office capabilities
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- The confidence to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- A practical, proactive approach to resolving queries
A relevant qualification in accounting, finance or insurance would be beneficial but is not essential.
Candidates with broader insurance accounts experience will also be considered where their knowledge is relevant and transferable.
However, you must already understand insurance broking accounts and be comfortable using Acturis, as this is not a trainee-level opportunity.
Salary and benefits
- Alongside a salary of £38,000–£45,000, the successful candidate will receive:
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
- Discretionary bonus
- Workplace pension
- Complimentary access to Fora's Restore gyms and studios
- Access to more than 200 complimentary fitness classes each month across the Fora network
- Gym facilities at One Lyric Square, with equipment, classes and personal training sessions available
- Fully stocked shower facilities—ideal for anyone cycling, running or exercising before work
- Complimentary tea, coffee and snacks in the communal kitchens
- Access to the 13th-floor members' bar, lounge and event space, offering panoramic views across London
- Garden room and communal breakout areas away from the main office
- On-site café serving food, snacks and drinks
- Invitations to member events, talks, workshops and networking experiences
- Business-hours access to communal areas and amenities across more than 60 Fora workspaces in London and throughout the UK
- An excellent place to work
The business is based within Fora at One Lyric Square, providing a modern, professional and sociable working environment in the heart of Hammersmith.
Hammersmith Underground station is approximately a two-minute walk away, making the office particularly accessible from across London and Greater London.
The role is expected to be office-based five days per week. However, some flexibility for one day away from the office may be available for the right candidate.
Why apply?
This is a genuinely hands-on opportunity offering
- Ownership of an important business function
- Regular interaction with Directors and senior brokers
- A friendly, collaborative and personable working environment
- The stability of a long-established independent brokerage
- A varied position where your contribution will be noticed and valued
- Excellent modern office, fitness and lifestyle facilities
- Convenient transport links
- Sensible working hours of 9am–5pm
This position would particularly suit someone who enjoys the autonomy and responsibility of working within a smaller independent brokerage—someone personable, organised and reliable who is comfortable getting stuck in without needing a heavily managed or rigid environment.
If you have strong insurance broking accounts experience, good Acturis knowledge and would enjoy making this function your own, we would be delighted to hear from you.
