I am working with a leading challenger accountancy firm that is looking to appoint a Corporate Tax Manager into its London tax team. This role is suitable for an existing Corporate Tax Manager or a strong Corporate Tax Assistant Manager looking to step up into a Manager position. The position will involve managing a corporate tax portfolio, reviewing compliance work, supporting advisory assignments and working closely with Senior Managers, Directors and Partners across the wider tax team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a condensed portfolio of corporate tax clients.
- Oversee deadlines across your client allocation.
- Review corporation tax returns, computations and supporting schedules.
- Review tax provisions and tax accounting schedules.
- Liaise with audit and accounting teams regarding work delivery timetables.
- Identify technical issues and escalate matters where appropriate.
- Support corporate tax advisory projects across areas such as restructuring, acquisitions, disposals, international expansion, share schemes and tax efficiency reviews.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Manage WIP and billing across your portfolio.
- Supervise, support and review work prepared by junior team members.
- Assist with internal team projects and operational matters.
- Support tenders, proposals, tax due diligence, technical queries and internal training where required.
Candidate Requirements
- Corporate tax experience gained within an accountancy practice environment.
- ACA, CA, CTA or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK corporation tax.
- Experience reviewing corporation tax returns and computations.
- Ability to manage a client portfolio effectively and profitably.
- Experience supporting corporate tax advisory work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good commercial awareness.
- Ability to explain technical tax matters clearly to clients and colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work during busy periods.
- Suitable for either an established Manager or an Assistant Manager ready to move into a Manager role.
Team / Client Base
The role sits within the London corporate tax team of a sizeable UK accountancy and advisory firm. The client base is broad and includes corporate businesses across a range of sectors, with regular exposure to both compliance and advisory work. You will work closely with Senior Managers, Directors and Partners, as well as colleagues across audit, accounts and wider tax service lines.
Progression
This role offers clear progression potential within a growing corporate tax team. For an Assistant Manager, this could represent a formal step up into a Manager-level position. For an existing Manager, it offers the opportunity to broaden client exposure, increase advisory involvement and work closely with senior members of the firm.
Salary / Benefits
