Client Manager - Accountancy Practice

Are you an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant ready to take the next step in your career?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing team where you'll have genuine ownership of a varied client portfolio, work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in developing both clients and colleagues.

Based in South London, this established accountancy practice is looking for a confident Client Manager who enjoys combining technical expertise with relationship management, team leadership and commercial thinking.

With a £50,000 - £60,000 salary, this is a strong opportunity for someone ready to progress.

The Opportunity

This Client Manager role would suit an experienced Assistant Manager ready for progression, or an established Client Manager looking for a more people-focused environment.

You'll have responsibility for a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses and other clients, acting as a trusted adviser while overseeing the delivery of high-quality accounts and advisory services.

You'll also have the opportunity to coach and develop junior team members, work alongside Directors and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

  • What you'll be doing
  • Take ownership of a varied portfolio, managing client relationships from day-to-day through to more strategic discussions.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships and become a trusted point of contact for your clients.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of accounts, tax and wider advisory work.
  • Lead, support and develop members of the accounts team, helping them reach their potential.
  • Work closely with Directors and colleagues across the wider business to deliver a joined-up service.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships and support business development activity.
  • Gain a strong understanding of your clients' businesses and provide commercially useful advice.
  • Help maintain high standards across the team while ensuring deadlines and client expectations are consistently met.

What we're looking for

You'll ideally bring

  • ACA or ACCA qualification.
  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice at Assistant Manager or Manager level.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients, ideally including owner-managed businesses.
  • Strong technical knowledge across accounts and general practice work.
  • Confident leadership and people-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport at all levels.
  • A proactive, commercially minded approach and a genuine interest in understanding clients' businesses.
  • Confidence working with accounting technology; knowledge of CCH would be advantageous.

You'll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively, takes pride in developing others and is looking for a role where progression is actively encouraged rather than simply promised.

  • What's on offer
  • £50,000 - £60,000 salary, depending on experience.
  • Genuine career progression within a growing professional services environment.
  • A supportive, high-performing team with experienced leadership.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Mental health support.
  • Volunteer day.
  • Regular social, wellbeing and community activities.

The role is based in London and offers the chance to build your career within a progressive accountancy environment.

The £50,000 - £60,000 salary reflects the level of responsibility, alongside a strong benefits package and clear progression opportunities.
