Overview:
First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who is seeking a Trend BMS Service & Commissioning Engineer to join their team. This is a hands-on role supporting servicing, fault-finding, small works, and commissioning across a London-based portfolio. The successful candidate will diagnose and resolve BMS and controls issues, carry out commissioning activities, and implement control strategies and graphics modifications in line with client requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site servicing and repairs of Trend BMS systems and associated field devices
- Diagnose faults across controllers, sensors, actuators, panels, communications, and safety systems
- Respond to reactive callouts and breakdowns
- Carry out point-to-point testing, calibration, loop checks, and functional testing
- Undertake panel modifications and small works as required
- Ensure all work aligns with client specifications and industry standards
- Write, modify, and test control strategies
- Update and maintain BMS graphics to reflect system changes
- Support optimisation of plant performance and system reliability
- Work with BMS networking systems including Ethernet and LAN
- Assist with integration of common BMS protocols such as BACnet, M-Bus, and Modbus
- Maintain accurate job reports, documentation, and as-fitted records
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Minimum 2 years' hands-on BMS experience (servicing, commissioning, or small works)
- Experience with Trend IQ Vision and on-site troubleshooting
- Strong fault-finding skills across controllers, field devices, and communication networks
- Understanding of commercial heating and hot water systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence (manual)
Desirable:
- Experience with Trend and Honeywell (Tridium/Niagara) systems
- Electrical qualification or relevant industry certifications
- Health & safety training (e.g. working at height, manual handling, first aid)
- Asbestos awareness and CSCS card
