Join a leading independent building consultancy in a senior role focused on growing its Structural Engineering service.
The consultancy advises developers, investors and property owners across the built environment and is known for providing high-quality technical and commercially focused advice.
The Role
This is a combined technical leadership and business development position.
You will develop relationships with existing and prospective clients, identify opportunities for structural engineering support and convert these conversations into fee-earning work.
You will then oversee the technical and commercial delivery of the resulting projects.
The work will cover structural investigations, remediation, refurbishment and new-build projects, including issues arising from fire, flooding, subsidence, impact damage and structural defects.
- Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Develop client relationships and generate new fee-earning work.
- Identify structural engineering opportunities across client property portfolios.
- Prepare scopes, fee proposals and bids.
- Build and manage a pipeline of structural engineering work.
- Lead complex projects from initial instruction through to completion.
- Oversee structural surveys, investigations and remediation projects.
- Act as the primary client contact and provide commercially focused technical advice.
- Manage project fees, resources, quality and timescales.
- Mentor engineers and support the growth of the team.
- Promote the consultancy through networking, presentations and technical content.
- Required Skills & Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status through MIStruct E or MICE.
- Significant structural engineering consultancy experience.
- A proven ability to develop client relationships and generate fee income.
- Experience preparing proposals and converting opportunities into instructions.
- Strong experience across existing buildings, refurbishment and new-build projects.
- Experience in structural investigations, defects and remediation.
- Strong technical, commercial and project leadership skills.
- Excellent report-writing, presentation and communication abilities.
- A proactive, personable and entrepreneurial approach.
