Job Title: Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Shift: Monday – Friday, 10pm – 6am

Job Role of the Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a supportive and collaborative engineering team within a busy manufacturing environment.

You will be responsible for carrying out both electrical and mechanical maintenance across the site, responding to breakdowns, completing planned preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.

This is a permanent night shift position, offering excellent stability and the opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing business.

  • Multi-skilled maintenance experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with planned, reactive and breakdown maintenance within a fast-paced factory environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities.

Requirements for the Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

  • Electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience.
  • Engineering qualification (Electrical or Mechanical).
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of an engineering team.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and engineering best practices.

Desirable Requirements for the Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

  • Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer in the UK.
  • Experience working with PLCs, ideally with the ability to fault-find using inputs and outputs.
  • Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing or other high-volume production environments.
  • Experience working with PPM systems and continuous improvement initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out routine visual and physical checks on all site machinery.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) as scheduled.
  • Respond to breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Perform repairs, upgrades and installations across the factory.
  • Minimise downtime and support overall equipment efficiency.
  • Conduct system and pre-start checks to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintain and update spares inventory and stock levels.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety and Hygiene policies.
  • Work alongside subcontractors, ensuring permits and method statements are followed.
  • Liaise with supervisors and management when required.
  • Provide clear updates and accurate reporting on maintenance activities.
  • Work to 5S standards and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, testing and inspections.
  • Support safe and efficient start-up of production equipment.
  • Provide engineering support in line with business needs.
