An established law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to take a key role within its finance function and become an integral part of the management team.

This is much more than a transactional cashiering position.

The successful individual will take responsibility for the firm's day-to-day financial operations while helping to strengthen financial controls, improve efficiency and support the firm's continued development.

Key Responsibilities

The successful Legal Cashier will

  • Take responsibility for the firm's day-to-day financial matters.
  • Maintain accurate office and client account records.
  • Ensure compliance with the Solicitors' Accounts Rules and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Scrutinise large financial transactions.
  • Manage payment processes, including reviewing and setting up bank payments.
  • Record office and client transactions accurately and promptly.
  • Oversee invoices and ensure payments are made on time.
  • Develop effective financial controls and procedures.
  • Liaise with the Management Accountant, external accountants and fee earners.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management information.
  • Manage month-end close procedures.
  • Prepare work-in-progress valuations.
  • Prepare, review and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Prepare for and manage the annual SRA audit.
  • Lead, support and guide the Accounts Department.
