We are seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join our Transport Operations team.
This role involves servicing and repairing vehicles and plant equipment in a safe, efficient, and economic manner, employing advanced skills and knowledge with due regard to current technical and health & safety legislation.
Day-to-day of the role
- Carry out a full range of technical checks and diagnostic tests on heavy goods and passenger transport vehicles.
- Perform routine inspections, service, and MOT of all vehicles and selected plant in the fleet according to schedules issued by the Workshop Manager.
- Report on mechanical and electrical vehicle components or systems defects, or impending failures.
- Carry out both mechanical and electrical repairs and/or adjustments as required under the instruction of the Senior Mechanic/Workshop Manager.
- Maintain a personal toolkit, special tools, and equipment in a good, safe, secure condition.
- Keep accurate records such as time sheets, work sheets, electronic records, and accident occurrence forms in accordance with policies and compliance procedures.
- Implement workshop schedules and loading to achieve maximum productivity as directed by the Workshop Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- City & Guilds Qualified Technician.
- Experience in all aspects of heavy, light, and passenger vehicle repair and maintenance.
- Fleet workshop or garage experience.
- Valid UK Driving License.
- Willingness to work outside of normal working hours on a rota basis.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
