A well-established legal services organisation is seeking an experienced RTA Litigation Claims Handler to join its specialist Motability claims team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in road traffic accident personal injury claims to join a supportive and collaborative team, where achieving positive outcomes for customers is at the heart of the role.

You will have the opportunity to build on your existing technical knowledge, broaden your litigation experience and take responsibility for a varied and interesting caseload involving more complex and disputed claims.

The Role

Reporting to a Team Leader, you will manage a diverse caseload of Road Traffic Accident (RTA) personal injury claims, covering matters across the OIC, MOJ, Fast Track and MIB processes, as well as more complex and litigated cases. You will have responsibility for progressing claims from initial instruction through to settlement or final resolution, providing clear legal guidance, managing disputes effectively and ensuring clients receive a consistently high level of service throughout. The position will also offer valuable exposure to post-whiplash reform claims, particularly those involving disputed liability and quantum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a specialist caseload of Motability-related RTA personal injury claims
  • Handle OIC, MOJ, MIB, Fast Track, complex and Part 8 litigated matters
  • Progress claims from initial instruction through to settlement or resolution
  • Develop appropriate strategies for resolving liability and quantum disputes
  • Manage post-whiplash reform claims, including disputed matters
  • Assess and value claims up to £20,000
  • Provide clear and accurate legal advice in accordance with relevant procedures and internal policies
  • Maintain strong client relationships and deliver a high standard of customer care
  • Ensure claims are progressed efficiently and within appropriate timescales
  • Work towards agreed quality, service and performance targets

About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience handling RTA personal injury claims, ideally within a law firm, insurance company or specialist legal services environment. You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience handling Fast Track RTA claims
  • Experience managing personal injury claims through litigation
  • Strong knowledge of the OIC and MOJ processes
  • Good understanding of Pre-Action Protocols and the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Knowledge of tariff and non-tariff injury valuations
  • Familiarity with the Judicial College Guidelines and assessment of general damages
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Experience working to targets, service levels and quality measures
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to manage a demanding caseload and prioritise effectively
