Associate Town Planner | Hybrid Working

Based in Leeds, you'll become part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team working on strategic planning projects, with a particular focus on planning applications and land promotions for residential development.

You'll work alongside specialists in development economics, design and heritage, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects and clients.

The Role

As an Associate Town Planner, you'll play a key role in leading projects, developing client relationships and supporting the continued growth of the planning team in the region.

You'll be involved throughout the full planning process, from providing early strategic advice and supporting design development through to securing planning permission, discharging conditions and managing planning obligations.

There will also be opportunities to contribute to Planning Appeals and Local Plan Examinations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising clients on the development potential of land and buildings.
  • Preparing and managing planning applications and appeals.
  • Providing planning policy advice and undertaking research.
  • Drafting representations for Local Plans, consultations and examinations.
  • Identifying land promotion and development opportunities.
  • Working collaboratively with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful developments.
  • Supporting business development and helping grow the regional planning team.

About You

To be considered, you'll ideally have

  • A relevant Planning qualification.
  • RTPI membership, or be working towards Chartered status.
  • A strong understanding of the UK planning system and planning process.
  • Excellent report writing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic approach with the ability to work effectively within a team.

This opportunity would suit either an experienced Planner looking to step into an Associate-level position or a Senior Planner looking to broaden their experience and take on greater responsibility.
