An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Manager or experienced Assistant Manager to join a growing accountancy practice in Leeds. This is a client-facing, fast-paced role offering a varied workload across accounts, compliance, advisory and project work. The position would suit an ACA/ACCA qualified accountant with several years' experience in practice who is looking to develop their advisory, client management and supervisory skills.

You will work with a diverse portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, LLPs, trusts and smaller private charities, providing a high-quality service across a range of accounting and advisory requirements.

What you will be doing as an Accounts Manager:

  • Supervising the preparation of year-end financial statements
  • Taking ownership of ad-hoc advisory and project work
  • Planning workloads and annual timetables to ensure deadlines are met
  • Reviewing VAT returns and supervising the preparation of management accounts
  • Supporting the financial management of client assignments
  • Communicating effectively across departments
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Coaching and developing junior members of the team
  • Reviewing and preparing year-end accounts using accounts production software such as CCH or equivalent

What you will need to succeed as an Accounts Manager:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, with several years' experience working within an accountancy practice
  • Experienced in preparing and reviewing year-end accounts
  • Confident working with a varied portfolio of clients
  • Strong numerically and analytically, with the ability to learn quickly
  • Highly competent in Excel and Word
  • Familiar with accounts production software such as CCH or equivalent
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to manage your own workload
  • Organised and able to work effectively to deadlines
  • Confident communicating with clients, managers and partners
  • A natural team player with a positive and enthusiastic approach
  • Detail-focused with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.
