You'll join an established finance team supporting a varied, multi-site operation.

Working closely with senior finance colleagues and operational stakeholders, you'll help improve the quality of management information and provide greater visibility over costs, performance and emerging trends.

The role

As the Management Accountant, you'll take ownership of the monthly reporting process for several areas of the business, ensuring results are accurate, clearly understood and delivered within agreed deadlines.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Producing monthly management accounts from start to finish
  • Preparing journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Completing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Delivering variance analysis with clear commentary
  • Supporting annual budgets and regular reforecasting
  • Monitoring costs, revenue and performance against budget
  • Working with operational managers to explain financial results

  • Identifying risks, trends and opportunities within the numbers
  • Supporting cash flow and working capital reporting
  • Assisting with year-end accounts and external audit requirements

  • Providing analysis for projects and commercial decisions

What are we looking for?

The successful Management Accountant will have experience producing monthly accounts and be confident working with stakeholders outside finance.

You may be part-qualified, newly qualified or qualified by experience, provided you can demonstrate a strong understanding of management accounting and financial reporting.

You'll need to be comfortable working with detailed information while also recognising the wider commercial story behind the numbers.

Strong Excel skills, a proactive approach and the confidence to challenge or investigate unusual results will all be important.

This Management Accountant opportunity would suit someone who

  • Has experience preparing monthly management accounts
  • Is studying towards or has completed an ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualification
  • Is confident with journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
  • Can produce meaningful variance analysis and commentary
  • Has strong Excel and financial systems experience
  • Enjoys working with operational and non-finance stakeholders
  • Can manage competing deadlines within a busy environment
  • Is keen to improve reporting and contribute ideas

This is a strong opportunity to join a business where finance is closely involved in operational decision-making.

You'll gain ownership of your reporting areas, exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to develop your commercial business-partnering experience.
