Key Responsibilities
- Managing a varied caseload involving the representation of kinship carers and adoptive parents in care proceedings
- Representing prospective adopters and foster carers in adoption matters
- Handling cases from instruction through to conclusion, including taking over matters partway through proceedings
- Providing advocacy and representing clients in court where appropriate
- Maintaining the highest standards of client care at all times
- Ensuring strict confidentiality and secure handling of client information
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the firm
- Maintaining effective communication with clients, courts and external organisations
- Supporting the development of the department and contributing to business development activities where appropriate
- Supervising and supporting junior staff where required
- Candidate Requirements
- Strong knowledge of public childcare law and care proceedings
- Experience handling legal aid matters as well as privately funded work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong advocacy skills
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated, organised and proactive
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment
