MRD Recruitment are working in partnership with our client to recruit an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their busy manufacturing site in Hamilton.

Are you an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer looking for a challenging role within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment? This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and growing business where you will play a key role in maintaining production equipment, improving reliability and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Engineering Shift Lead, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of production equipment, delivering both planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure maximum plant reliability. Working as part of the night shift engineering team, you will play a vital role in minimising downtime, carrying out fault finding, resolving breakdowns and supporting ongoing improvements across the site. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring a proactive approach, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently within a busy production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities across production equipment
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently to minimise production downtime
  • Perform electrical and mechanical fault finding and problem solving
  • Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions
  • Record all maintenance activities, downtime and parts usage through the CMMS system
  • Support continuous improvement and productivity improvement projects
  • Identify opportunities to improve machinery reliability and production performance
  • Work closely with production teams to support operational efficiency
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in line with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • Support operators with basic asset care training and equipment awareness

What We're Looking For

You will be an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong background in FMCG manufacturing or a similar production environment.

Essential requirements:

  • Apprentice trained and qualified Multi-Skilled Engineer
  • Previous experience working within an FMCG manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively under pressure
  • Good understanding of planned preventative maintenance systems
  • PC literate with experience using maintenance systems/CMMS

Desirable experience:

  • Food or drink manufacturing background
  • Lean manufacturing / continuous improvement experience
  • Experience supporting production improvement projects
