We are currently seeking a Mechanical / Senior Design Engineer to join a growing Building Services Engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to work on a variety of projects, providing mechanical design solutions across the full project lifecycle while working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams.

Project sectors include Offices, Laboratories, Research Facilities, Education and more.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering mechanical building services designs, supporting project delivery and working closely with clients, contractors, architects and other engineering disciplines.

Key responsibilities include

  • Producing mechanical building services designs, calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports
  • Designing HVAC, heating, cooling and ventilation systems
  • Undertaking heat loss, heat gain, pipe sizing, pump sizing and duct sizing calculations
  • Coordinating mechanical designs with other disciplines
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders
  • Attending design and project meetings
  • Undertaking site visits and supporting the resolution of technical issues
  • Assisting with commissioning and project handover
  • Ensuring designs comply with relevant regulations, standards and project requirements
  • Incorporating energy efficiency and sustainable design principles into projects
  • Supporting junior engineers and CAD/BIM technicians where required
  • Managing your own workload and delivering work to agreed deadlines

About You

The ideal candidate will have

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience within building services, MEP or mechanical design
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles
  • Experience with relevant design calculations and technical documentation
  • Good knowledge of HVAC and building services systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and professional development
