Competitive salary plus benefits

Hero Media & Entertainment (HM&E) is a fast-growing media investment company, part of the Hero Brands Group, building a portfolio of digital publishing, video platforms, live events and specialist information businesses across the UK. Since launching at the start of 2026, HM&E has already acquired Dundee Press Agency, KD Media Ltd, Daily Business and Scottish Bar & Pub Awards - with its own digital news channel, ScottishNews.com, launching on 28th August 2026.

Iconic Resourcing is retained exclusively to find HM&E's first dedicated Management Accountant - a genuine day-one hire who'll help build the finance function from scratch, working closely with the wider Hero Brands finance team.

The opportunity

This isn't a role where you're stepping into something established - you'll be shaping the processes, systems and reporting that HM&E relies on as it scales. That includes supporting the integration of new acquisitions. Reporting into Hero Brands' Finance Manager, with a dotted line to HM&E's CEO, you'll have real visibility and ownership from the outset.

What you'll be doing

  • Owning month-end close, from accruals and prepayments through to the management accounts pack for CFO and management team review
  • Reconciling intercompany accounts, drafting journals, and preparing VAT returns
  • Supporting weekly sales reporting for the HM&E management team
  • Processing sales and purchase ledger invoices, and looking for ways to automate manual work
  • Supporting the integration of acquisitions to bring consistent management accounts reporting across the group
  • Monitoring and forecasting cash position
  • Getting involved in ad hoc projects supporting the CFO and wider management team

What we're looking for

Solid month-end and management accounting experience, and the ability to stay organised and prioritise in a fast-changing, fast-growing environment. Candidates can be qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ICAS) or QBE. Exposure to Xero and/or Zoho would be a bonus, but isn't essential. Personality fit is key, you'll need to be someone with a real get-up-and-go attitude, a problem solver and keen to join something that is a genuine building opportunity, rather than a straightforward Accountant role.
