Reed Finance are supporting our client in their search for a Head of Commercial Finance to lead the organisation's commercial bid finance capability and enhance the strategic impact of finance business partnering across the Group.

This senior leadership role is pivotal in overseeing a team that includes Finance Business Partners, Bid Modellers, and other key finance personnel, ensuring alignment across bid activity, operational finance, and group reporting.

Day-to-Day of the Role

  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Enhance the commercial and strategic capabilities of Finance Business Partners through coaching and development.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of management accounts and robust group consolidation in line with agreed timetables.
  • Drive process improvements in month-end close through standardisation, automation, and effective use of AI.
  • Provide senior oversight and strategic input on major bids and commercial contracts, ensuring financial models are robust and commercially sound.
  • Collaborate closely with Contracts and BI and Data teams to translate commercial drivers into financial performance.
  • Manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively, maintaining high standards of quality and commercial judgement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience in a senior commercial finance role.
  • Strong experience in bid finance, commercial modelling, and strategic partnerships.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, capable of inspiring and developing teams.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in improving financial processes and systems.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, with experience in leveraging AI and automation for efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting to and influencing Board level stakeholders.
