Accounting Practice Manager - Diss
£50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
Full time | 37.5 hours per week
Are you ACA or ACCA qualified with significant post qualified experience in accountancy practice, already managing clients and people and ready for a role with broader influence?
Michelle Denny Recruitment is recruiting an Accounting Practice Manager in Diss, joining the management team of a sizeable accountancy practice and working closely with senior management and Partners.
You'll manage a portfolio of key clients, but this role goes considerably further than looking after accounts and deadlines. You'll have day to day responsibility for developing people, mentoring senior team members, managing resources and helping grow the client base.
There's a commercial side too. You'll be encouraged to build relationships with referrers, get involved in networking and new business opportunities and identify where clients could benefit from wider services across the practice.
What you'll be doing
- Managing a portfolio of key clients and developing strong, long term relationships
- Taking responsibility for the quality and delivery of client work
- Managing, coaching and developing members of the team
- Carrying out performance reviews, 121s and development conversations
- Mentoring Seniors and Assistant Managers and helping them develop their own specialist areas
- Managing workloads and resources across the team
- Reviewing and undertaking more complex accountancy work
- Identifying opportunities to introduce clients to wider services
- Supporting proposals and tenders for new business
- Building relationships with professional contacts and referrers
- Getting involved in networking, marketing and external events
- Working closely with Partners and senior colleagues on the wider development of the business
What you'll bring
You'll need to be ACA, ACCA or equivalently qualified, with significant post qualified experience gained within accountancy practice.
You'll also need:
- Experience managing your own portfolio of clients
- Previous responsibility for managing and developing a team
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills
- The confidence to lead people and have constructive performance conversations
- Strong client relationship and communication skills
- Experience of networking and developing professional relationships
- Commercial awareness and the ability to spot opportunities with clients
- The ability to organise your own workload while coordinating the work of others
- A practical, solution focused approach when priorities change
Experience of recruitment and wider practice responsibilities would be useful, but isn't essential.
What's on offer
- £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
- 30 days' holiday plus bank holidays
- Private Medical Insurance
- Pension with 6% employer contribution
- Medicash plan
- Life Assurance and Group Income Protection
- Professional subscriptions
- Annual salary review
- Ongoing professional development and access to specialist teams across the wider practice
- Annualised hours
Why consider it?
If you're already doing much of this work but want greater involvement in how a team develops and how a practice grows, that's where this opportunity becomes interesting.
You'll be close to the decision making, working alongside senior management and Partners rather than simply reporting upwards. At the same time, you'll retain your own client relationships and the technical side of the profession.
It's a role for someone who wants their next move to broaden their influence, not simply change the name above the door.
Interested?
If you're an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant already working within practice and the combination of clients, people and commercial involvement appeals to you, I'd be very happy to tell you more.
