Client Overview

Our client is a specialist engineering company based in Derby, delivering large-scale mechanical overhaul and modification projects. Due to continued project demand, they are looking to recruit Semi Skilled Fitters to support experienced mechanical teams on a long-term contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the overhaul, refurbishment and mechanical assembly of heavy engineering equipment.
  • Stripping and rebuilding mechanical components under the guidance of experienced fitters.
  • Cleaning, preparing and replacing mechanical parts and components.
  • Using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Working from engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Maintaining high standards of quality, housekeeping and health & safety.

Person Profile

  • Previous experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
  • Competent using a range of hand and power tools.
  • Basic mechanical fitting or assembly experience.
  • Able to follow engineering drawings and written work instructions.
  • Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team.
  • Willing to learn and develop new mechanical skills.

Important Information

  • This role is based in Derby - no digs or expenses allowance is available.
  • Contractors will be engaged Outside IR35 through their own Ltd Company.
  • Applicants must have an active Ltd Company with a separate business bank account.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical or Engineering qualification advantageous but not essential.
  • Apprenticeship, NVQ or City & Guilds in a relevant discipline would be beneficial.
