Elevation's Design & Projects team are working with a growing engineering business looking to recruit an additional Design Engineer to join its design and projects team following a number of significant growth opportunities. This is a varied opportunity for a Design Engineer, CAD Engineer or Draughtsperson with strong AutoCAD skills who is looking to develop their experience across detailed engineering design, 3D modelling and BIM.
Design Engineer Role Outline
As a Design Engineer, you will work closely with the Design Manager and Projects team to produce detailed drawings and layouts for customer projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing detailed layout and route drawings using AutoCAD and Revit
- Converting customer requirements into accurate engineering drawings and layouts
- Working with Revit models and Autodesk Docs for project file sharing
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and customer specifications
- Coordinating designs with customers, colleagues, factory teams and installation contractors
- Working closely with the wider engineering team to ensure designs meet project requirements
- Supporting the development and improvement of internal design processes
- Carrying out occasional site surveys to gather information for project designs
- Maintaining accurate project records in line with company quality procedures
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously and working to agreed deadlines
- Supporting the wider group with the development of BIM modelling and Revit-based design
- Liaising with engineering and projects teams throughout the project lifecycle
Skillset overview
We are interested in hearing from Design Engineers, CAD Designers, CAD Engineers, Design Draughtspersons and Engineering Draughtspersons with a strong background in 2D CAD. You will ideally have:
- Strong AutoCAD experience
- Experience producing detailed engineering or technical drawings
- The ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- The ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines
- Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise with customers and contractors
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider engineering team
- Experience with Revit, Autodesk Docs or Inventor would be advantageous but is not essential.
