A leading UK manufacturing and distribution business is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its finance leadership team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
This role is reporting directly to the Finance Director, with responsibility for leading the finance function, managing a small team and ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information to support business performance and decision-making.

Description
Key responsibilities include
- Leading the month-end, half-year, and year-end reporting process.
- Overseeing the preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Coordinating external audit activities and managing key audit risks.
- Owning the production of management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and supporting analysis.
- Driving continuous improvement across reporting, controls, systems, and finance processes.
- Enhancing internal controls and supporting upcoming UK governance and controls reforms.
- Overseeing cash flow forecasting, treasury management, and working capital initiatives.
- Acting as a key contact for tax compliance and external advisers.
- Partnering with senior stakeholders to challenge performance and support strategic decision-making.
- Leading, coaching, and developing a finance team of qualified and part-qualified professionals.
- Profile
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience gained within a sizeable business environment.

- Proven finance team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of statutory reporting and audit management.
- Experience of maintaining and improving financial controls.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive approach to process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
- ERP implementation experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
