A well-established law firm is looking to appoint an experienced Legal Cashier to join its Finance team. This is a predominantly remote position, offering excellent flexibility, with attendance required at either the London or Colchester office approximately once per month for team meetings, training, and business requirements.

Working within an established cashiering team of eight, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and accurate running of the firm's cashier function while maintaining compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and supporting the wider finance operation.

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the cashiering team in meeting daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
  • Assist with office account CHAPS and BACS payments
  • Process supplier invoices through the finance system for approval and payment
  • Add purchase order numbers to client bills
  • Support the Cashier Supervisor with accounting queries, reporting and requests
  • Provide cover for colleagues during periods of annual leave and increased workload
  • Assist with finance projects and operational initiatives as required
  • Utilise the firm's accounting systems to improve efficiency and accuracy within the cashiering function
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations

About You

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm
  • Excellent knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules
  • Strong Excel skills and confident user of Microsoft Office
  • Experience using legal accounting systems, ideally Partner for Windows
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Professional communicator, comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Team player with a flexible and positive approach

Desirable

  • AAT qualification or higher
  • Experience supporting a COFA and managing banking relationships
  • Knowledge of Legal finance systems
