Job Purpose

To safely operate and monitor melting furnaces, prepare molten metal to required specifications, and supply quality metal for casting and melting production while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate either induction, gas-fired, or electric melting furnaces etc
  • Charge furnaces with approved raw materials, returns, and alloys according to production requirements.
  • Monitor melting temperatures and chemical composition of molten metal.
  • Conduct metal sampling and support spectrometer analysis.
  • Perform alloy additions and metal treatment processes as specified.
  • Transfer molten metal safely to holding furnaces or casting lines.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards and process specifications.
  • Record production data, temperatures, chemical results, and furnace performance.
  • Carry out routine furnace inspections and preventive maintenance checks.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and support 5S activities.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, quality, and efficiency.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience working in a foundry, casting, or metal melting, forging, heat treatment environment etc
  • Understanding of metal melting processes for various metals would be highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.

Desirable

  • Forklift, overhead crane, or lifting equipment certification would be advantageous
  • Experience in the steel industry would be highly advantageous
