The Role
You will advise a wide range of clients, including investors, entrepreneurs, landed estates, heritage property owners, professionals, and senior executives within the UK Private Client group.
Many client matters have an international element, offering you the chance to broaden your expertise.
As part of the Cheltenham team, you'll work closely with partners known for their depth of knowledge and dedication to client service.
Your role includes collaborating with Private Property, Trust and Tax teams both nationally and internationally, enabling you to build versatile experience and develop specialist knowledge as your career progresses.
Responsibilities
- Provide clear, concise legal advice to private clients on succession and tax planning
- Efficiently manage a substantial and varied workload with appropriate supervision
- Draft complex legal documents, using appropriate precedents
- Apply commercial judgement in the delivery of advice and research
- Support, delegate to, and supervise junior colleagues where appropriate
- Actively participate in client marketing, including seminars, presentations, and pitches
- Identify and pursue client opportunities
- Contribute to group knowledge and know-how initiatives
- Meet all relevant regulatory obligations, including SRA standards
What we're looking for
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEx qualified (ideally: 3-7 years' PQE)
- STEP qualification advantageous but not essential
- Strong knowledge of estate administration, inheritance tax, and trusts
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role or looking to step into a more senior position
- Excellent team player with the ability to mentor and guide more junior colleagues
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to maintain diverse client relationships
- Organised, proactive, and capable of managing a significant caseload
- Flexible and willing to go the extra mile for your clients and colleagues
