Broster Buchanan are recruiting for a Finance Manager in Chatteris, on a Temporary and a Permanent basis
Job Purpose
To own the day-to-day financial management of the site, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial control, and meaningful insight to support operational decision-making.
The role balances hands-on financial management with business partnering across manufacturing and support functions.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Own monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow)
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial reporting
- Maintain and improve financial controls and processes
- Manage month-end close process
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely integration into financial reporting
- Ensure VAT returns are accurate and submitted on time
- Maintain audit-ready financial records and supporting documentation
- Statutory accounts
- Year-end processes
- Technical accounting matters
- Ensure adherence to internal policies and financial controls
- Monitor and manage cashflow
- Oversee receivables and payables
- Identify risks and opportunities relating to working capital
- Labour costs (especially hourly workforce)
- Material usage and variances
- Waste and efficiency
- Support operational teams with cost visibility and decision-making
- Work closely with CI Teams on improvement initiatives
- Translate financial data into actionable recommendations
- Lead annual budgeting process
- Maintain rolling forecasts
- Track performance vs budget and provide variance analysis
Key Skills
- Proven experience in a Finance Manager or senior accounting role
- Strong management and cost accounting skills
- Solid understanding of financial controls and compliance
- Ability to communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders
- Hands-on and willing to operate at both detailed and summary levels
- Comfortable with end to end finance processes within an SME environment highly desirable
- Experience of working in manufacturing and understanding of BOM's (preferred)
- Advanced knowledge of MS excel (preferred)
- Knowledge of Syspro or other manufacturing ERP systems highly desirable
- Excellent interpersonal skills - able to build rapport with a diverse group of employees and stakeholders
- Proven experience in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures to ensure financial stability and growth
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail
