An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mobile Plant Fitter to join an established industrial business based in Carlisle.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanically skilled Plant Fitter looking for a permanent days-based position.
You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and servicing a range of mobile plant and heavy machinery, ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable and operational.
Working alongside the wider engineering team, you will carry out both planned maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs, with a strong focus on reducing downtime and maintaining high equipment availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on mobile plant and heavy machinery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns.
- Service and maintain a range of mobile plant equipment.
- Carry out inspections and identify potential faults before they result in breakdowns.
- Fault-find and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Replace and repair components including bearings, belts, pumps, cylinders and hydraulic hoses.
- Carry out welding and fabrication repairs where required.
- Complete routine servicing and safety checks.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Work closely with the engineering and operations teams to minimise equipment downtime.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter, Plant Engineer, Heavy Plant Fitter or similar.
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
- Experience working on heavy mobile plant or industrial machinery.
- Good understanding of hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently.
- Strong practical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.
- Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.

- Experience working on excavators, loading shovels, telehandlers, crushers or similar heavy plant.
