Business Services Associate Director
Cardiff

£90,000-£110,000
A successful independent firm is looking for a senior adviser capable of taking genuine ownership of a substantial business services portfolio while helping shape the next stage of its growth.

The firm is already one of the strongest performers in its region, highly profitable and continuing to invest heavily in people.

Growth here is being driven by demand from an established client base and the need to create additional senior capacity.

As Business Services Associate Director, you would work closely with an Audit and Accounts Director who is currently operating at capacity.

The portfolio includes entrepreneurial start-ups, growing owner-managed companies and established businesses with turnover of up to around £15m.

  • Where you'll add value
  • Acting as a senior adviser to business owners and management teams
  • Taking responsibility for a significant portfolio
  • Leading complex accounts and business advisory assignments
  • Handling technical accounting questions that fall outside routine compliance
  • Meeting clients regularly and building strong personal relationships
  • Helping identify new work from existing and prospective clients
  • Coaching managers and supporting succession across the team
  • Working closely with the wider leadership group on growth

This is very much a relationship-led accountancy environment.

Clients in Cardiff are accustomed to sitting down with their advisers and discussing problems properly rather than sending requests into a faceless central inbox.

The right Business Services Associate Director will therefore combine strong technical capability with the judgement and communication skills needed to advise an owner when the answer isn't immediately obvious.

Experience from an independent, regional or mid-tier accountancy firm is likely to translate particularly well.

The opportunity

There is significant headroom here.

The firm has an established history of internal progression, numerous long-serving employees and a leadership team actively developing its next generation of directors.

A successful Business Services Associate Director would have a realistic opportunity to progress further as the business expands across Cardiff and the wider region.

Package

  • £90,000-£110,000
  • Senior position within a highly profitable firm
  • Strong long-term progression
  • Exposure to entrepreneurial and growing businesses
  • Significant investment behind future expansion
  • Collaborative, family-owned culture
  • Regular face-to-face client interaction

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants greater influence while remaining close to clients and the commercial side of accountancy.
