I am pleased to be working with an established manufacturing business in Cannock to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong SolidWorks skills and experience in mechanical product design who enjoys taking products from an initial idea through to production. You'll be joining a supportive engineering team where you'll have the chance to develop new products, improve existing designs and see your ideas brought to life. If you enjoy solving engineering challenges, working on a variety of projects and making a genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and developing new products, taking ideas from the initial concept right through to production
- Creating 3D models, technical drawings and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Building and testing prototypes, making improvements to ensure products perform well and are ready for manufacture
- Preparing the technical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and documentation needed to support production
- Working closely with the production team to make sure designs are practical, efficient and cost-effective to manufacture
- Looking at ways to improve existing products through new materials, manufacturing techniques and design enhancements
- Supporting design changes and continuous improvement projects as products evolve
About You
- Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer or Product Design Engineer role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong SolidWorks skills
- Experience producing manufacturing drawings
- A creative approach to problem-solving with a practical, hands-on mindset
- Someone who enjoys working closely with colleagues across engineering, production and other departments
- Excellent attention to detail and a genuine passion for designing high-quality products
