We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior System Engineer to work for our global client based in Cambourne, Cambridgeshire.
Our clients' Technology Solutions division is evolving.
They are moving to a Product Operating Model – a new way of working that empowers product teams to take full ownership and accountability for delivering customer and business value in ways customers love and that work for the business.
Our client's product and platform teams are cross-functional and durable, bringing together all the skills required to deliver impactful outcomes.
Each team includes a Product Manager, Technology Lead, Product Designer, Delivery Lead, engineers, and developers.

Leadership of the Product team is shared between the Product Manager and the Technology Lead, ensuring balanced guidance that bridges product vision and technical execution.
As Senior System Engineer you will have significant impact on our multi-disciplinary R&D projects, grow with us as we venture into new technologies and will lead work groups in our projects as part of the connected devices line of products during the product lifecycle of both discovery and delivery.
This role is a temporary contract position for 2 years.
You will be required to work 37.5 hours per week and our client offers hybrid working (minimum 2 days onsite and the rest working remotely from home).
The role offers a generous hourly rate of £ per hour depending on experience, plus 25 days holiday pro rata.
Role Functions
The responsibilities will include defining System, HW, Embedded, ATE, SW & Integration requirements as well as contributing to the design stage of each discipline, defining the protocol, technical problem solving, proof of concept and field testing and assisting in tests design and investigations.
Management of manufacturing automating projects to ensure the efforts satisfy business requirements.
Responsibilities will encompass all phases of a project life-cycle including concept requirement, design, testing, installation, qualification and training.
Is considered expert with many years of experience and may be a non-management level lead of a team.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
The position requires multidisciplinary understanding, ability to quickly grasp new technological aspects as well as constraints , the capability to work in a multi-site matrix organization and working closely in a Product and Platform team with other system engineers, embedded software developers, HW engineers, Integration Engineers as well as backend and front-end teams.

Qualifications & Education
Requirements
- BSC/MSc in Electrical engineering or higher
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in system engineering of multidisciplinary systems
- Experience in working with communication products, Embedded, HW, RF systems
- Problem solver with good personal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to understand complex Io T systems and quickly grasp new technical concepts with focus on challenges ahead and alternative comparison
- Experience of working in complex multidisciplinary projects that requires a high level of technical know-how
- Demonstrated application of S88, S95, automation scope principles, competitive decision making, and MMD IT architecture standards for optimal business outcomes.

- Experience in working with Atlassian suite and/or Azure Dev Ops
- Experience with Agentic AI for discovery and innovation
- Coding capabilities (C/C#/Java/Python)
- Experience with RF communication technologies (BLE, Wi Fi, LTE-M, Lo Ra, etc)
- Knowledge in backend systems and serverless solutions
- Working with Cloud based infrastructure for Io T devices
